Milestone: Daughter Graduation

Our daughter graduated without me there, and I survived.  I had a pretty rough time with it, though.

Chad was able to make some arrangements so he could fly to Minnesota on the day of her graduation ceremony.  I was on Skype so I could see her reaction play out live as she discovered he was there for her.

(See him holding up his cell phone?  That's me on Skype!)

I am so glad that he was able to be there in person for her.

She looked beautiful and I am so proud of her.

Here she is after she received her diploma.  This was actually the first picture I received of the night, and I excitedly posted it on facebook for all my family and friends to see.  Then, Chad started sending me videos via email.  Unfortunately, the emails came in backwards (unbeknownst to me) so I opened up the cap toss video (the last one he sent), first.

That's when it hit me like a Mack Truck.  I started sobbing like a baby.  I was sitting in the living room alone, in the dark, openly weeping with joy and grief.  I was overjoyed that our beautiful daughter had graduated and was so upset that I wasn't there sharing it with her.  I don't know what it was about the cap toss - the excitement of the graduates, the finality of it - not sure.  I had myself a good cry that night.

Chad has been out of town on a business trip and Courtney is now on her first stop in Europe - she's currently in London at the moment.  I have been in brief contact with her and she says she is having a ton of fun.  I am so glad she is happy!!!

Summer vacation has started with the kids and I really need to get a job.  I have been sending in lots of applications.  I hope something comes along soon.  I'm going stir crazy here!!!

Corbin has a lot of therapy sessions scheduled this week - three to be exact.  Two speech therapy appointments and one therapy for emotional support for the heartbreaking events he endures at school each day.  I have a blog about his autism in this works but I haven't finished it yet.  Hope to finish it soon.

It's raining today so making chocolate chip cookies is on the agenda.  I don't have any brown sugar so I have Googled some recipes for cc cookies with no brown sugar.  We'll see how they turn out!
